A preview of the collaboration came in the form of the invitation for the Fall/Winter 2023 show marking JW Anderson’s 15th anniversary, staged at the Roundhouse in Camden during London Fashion Week: a paper bag featuring a print of a poster designed by Peter Saville that Clark displayed outside the Roundhouse for his ‘current/SEE’ performance in 1998, alongside a set of pictures of Clark himself.
For the JW Anderson show, three huge plinths were installed at the centre of the runway inside the Roundhouse, featuring images drawn from Clark’s own creative output.
To develop the capsule collection, JW Anderson and Clark have delved into their respective archives, reducing, compressing and distilling their retrospective visions into a newly elaborated creative mix.
The capsule collection is available from August 25 on JW Anderson’s e-shop and at the label’s London and Milan stores. It incorporates images from Clark’s archive reproduced on ready-to-wear items (t-shirts, tank tops, knitwear and sweatshirts), handbags and accessories, while a carton-reinforced paper version of the show’s invite has been transformed into a pocket square. Some of the items are decorated with prints of pictures on display at the Roundhouse show, while other t-shirts, sweatshirts and hats feature the words ‘Witch?’, ‘Sham Man
