Uncut Jyahms star Julia Fox is one of our foremost fashion innovators, constantly trotting out unexpected pairings and out-there garments that make us say, “Well, if that’s what she wants to do!” Her latest outfit is no exception.
While it appears at first glance that that her skirt—clipped onto her belt with what seem to be caribiners—is the conversation piece in her look, which she wore out and about in New York City on Wednesday, September 27, look at the back and you’ll soon realize there’s a lot going on up top. Like, this shirt does have a collar, a hole for your head, and sleeves, but Julia’s ignoring all of that and just strapped the thing to her chest (no, we know, it’s clearly a designer piece meant to be worn that way, but still, that’s the illusion). Will this be the next big thing the way fashion people wear their coats sans sleeves?
Fox accessorized with a wide grommet-studded necktie that went not around her own neck but around the neck of the shirt. She’s wearing a shirt but not wearing the shirt. Think about that!
The actor and former dominatrix is wearing her hair with a red tint these days, and the whole look is very Fashion Avril. Pop punk is in the house! The plaid, the tie, the belt, the Hot Topic shoes…we get it, you listened to the new Olivia Rodrigo album.
Fox is currently on a promotional tour for her upcoming memoir and wore this ’fit to Good Morning America, which is both brave and considerate. Brave because Good Morning America is not really the venue for risky fashions, but considerate because this is actually quite conservative by Julia Fox standards. Last time we saw her she was in naught but metal lingerie, with only a silver dollar protecting her labia majora from the rays of the sun.
Fox’s memoir, Down the Drain hits shelves October 10.
